An unofficial World of Women derivative series.

Since World of Women launched in late July last year we’ve seen some remarkable derivatives and we hope our collection is no exception.

We all know generative art is a mix and match of randomised trait layers and occasionally the output has less desirable trait combinations. As such, there may be combinations that were never generated that would in fact look remarkable. Furthermore, there may be certain traits that are similar in style or have matching colour themes and patterns and we think it’s necessary these combinations are finally brought together.

Having said this, in my experience with generative art, WoW stands out as one of the most impressively curated collections. The colour palette throughout and the seamless way each of the unique traits mesh together has resulted in 10,000 aesthetically pleasing original art pieces, and arguably any single one of these pieces would please the eye of an avid art collector.

About our Project

Curated women is not affiliated with the official World of Women project.

We seek to build upon the project in a lateral way with unique and themed custom derivatives that tie in seamlessly with the original collection, complimenting Yam’s unique vector style art.

Each week, we will release a number of themed pieces, listed for 0.08ETH until sold.

These are 1/1 edition pieces and once sold, owners will have access to the super high resolution 4000 x 4000 version (as in the original collection).

Back Story

World of Women hosted an art contest in Aug/Sep 2021. We created one piece, which was to us what was thought to be a really exciting WoW to own with unique 1/1 traits (if it had of existed).

We attempted to not veer away from Yam’s style so the piece’s originality was convincing, yet wanted to customise and create new traits that tie in with the originals. The rainbow goddess piece (shown above) is a combination of original and customised traits that compliment this vibrant theme.

With help from the community we gathered together a bunch of high-res WoW images and undertook a painstaking process of masking out and customising certain traits. We were able to successfully up sample the themed piece to match the native resolution in the original collection. We wanted to capture the 4000 x 4000 super high resolution, and be able to print it out once completed.

Ultimately, having stirred up our creativity, we hope to continue down this path and collaborate with the WoW community to produce one of a kind derivative pieces that take a unique angle on the existing collection we all know and love.

Commissioning a Custom Piece

Not only will we create themed pieces each week, but also specific and custom pieces upon request, providing you own an original WoW art piece.

Commissioning a custom piece will require payment in advance of 0.1ETH. The premium price is allocated to allow us to mint and transfer the ERC-721 token to your address upon completion, as well as the additional time allocated to coordinating the desired trait combinations and customisation of your WoW.

For those who are proud of owning an original World of Women piece, we hope our project allows you the opportunity to represent it in a unique and creative way, adding custom colours and cohesive and/or custom traits for a more aesthetic showpiece (if that’s possible).

Commissioned pieces will require input from the buyer. Upon request you will be asked to share your wallet address and allocate a specific combination of traits. As we will be developing custom traits for our library, alongside the original traits, you will have the option to select any of these or submit a request for a new trait. For any new trait you commission (e.g. it hasn’t been seen in our collection previously) you will incur a 0.03ETH surcharge, to be paid in advance. Some examples of a new trait you may wish to include are as follows; Night Goddess eyes (inspired by WoW’s Night Goddess skin tone), Rainbow themed Oversized Statement Sunglasses, a uniquely coloured or patterned skin tone, a unique background, a new hairstyle, or new face accessories…. just to name a few possibilities.

Extra care and consideration will be taken to align your expectations with our quality standards and style, as showcased in the Curated Women collection. We will strive to find that equilibrium for each commissioned piece.

If you have a vision for a custom piece you would like to bring to life we can certainly deliver. It may be as simple as a combination of existing traits you can imagine would look great together, or an elaborate and unique representation of your WoW piece with a different colour palette and/or customised or alternative traits.

Intellectual Property and Licensing Rights

The community surrounding World of Women is full of passionate art collectors and NFT traders who prize their beloved WoW pieces. I know for certain I fit this category. Many holders have spent large amounts of money to buy into the project and are rightly protective of the associated intellectual-property.

I want to humbly acknowledge that we will not infringe these IP and commercial licensing rights, and have sought understanding on the rules surrounding derivative projects. We have contacted the World of Women team and confirmed our approach.

The following will be adhered to for each piece:

• For any commissioned work, if subtle changes are requested to original pieces, it will only be actioned if you own the corresponding original WoW NFT.
• We will not create or release custom pieces that mimic any artworks in the original WoW collection. There will certainly be no pieces released that match the trait combinations of any existing WoW NFT.
• We will not do derivatives of any existing WoW NFT, unless commissioned by the owner.

Core Values

We are building this project around WoW and appreciate the core brand values they promote. We wish to lead our derivative project with a similar professionalism and community minded approach.

Although we are unaffiliated with World of Women, we wish to credit the artistic mastery of the well appreciated art style to the original World of Women artist, Yam Karkai. We’re positioning ourselves to be curators of the beautiful illustrations Yam has produced with an interest in optimising the generative art, in order to create themed and cohesive one of a kind pieces that are extremely aesthetic.

There is certainly an eye for detail, and an admiration for what we’re creating. Were excited to build upon something already so successful in a creative way.

Community Support

If you feel you would like to contribute to this project, we would be thrilled to receive the downloadable HD file of your unique WoW NFT with the transparent background via email. These will be safeguarded and not shared publicly. We will only use these for clipping certain base traits to compile a ‘tool chest’ of trait images.

By sending a HD downloadable WoW file to us, you are permitting us to clip some of the traits from that image and use these to form a custom piece. Essentially, it is one of the tools we will use to form our collection.
